With all these storms we've been having, and coronavirus making self-isolation more and more likely, we may soon be struggling to get out and keep our fitness levels up. As if by magic, Dua Lipa - British pop saviour - has released a surprise: a new video for her genuinely exhilarating single, Physical.
And so, in one fell swoop, Olivia Newton John has been dethroned. The Call On Me video has been forgotten. This is, without question, the most iconic fitness-themed music video of all time.
Dua's initial video for Physical was a colourful, energetic depiction of love, as the singer and her onscreen partner danced around coloured zones, plunging joyously in and out of each other's arms. But now, the New Rules star has delivered an alternative, which sees her and a group of pals work out to the song. Helpfully, she offers instructions, so that you can join in from home, exhibiting hip thrusts, squats and some arguably suggestive hand movements.
In short, it's all very vintage Jane Fonda, and we are completely obsessed. (Speaking of obsessed, we are also extremely here for her long, half-pony, which exposes her blonde/black hair combo.)
The Let's Get Physical Work Out video was, according to Dua's YouTube, mixed with an immersive 360 experience in mind, so they suggest that users put of their headphones. Plus, you can buy the merchandise from the video, too, which is a savvy move.
We'll be right back. Just popping out to the gym... to cancel our subscription. We'll exercise from our living room from now on. Thanks Dua.
Physical is taken from Dua's forthcoming album Future Nostalgia, due for release on April 3rd.
