Don’t Worry, John Travolta Definitely Had A Worse Oscars Night Than You

Danny Zuko probably won't be bungling any more names any time soon

What’s the last thing you want when you’ve got a million cameras pointed in your face and you’re trying your darndest to not make any slip ups? Ah yes, John Travolta sneaking up behind you, grabbing you round the waist and planting a massive kiss on your cheek.

Last night on The Oscars red carpet while Scarlett Johansson was busy posing up a storm, John's kiss made for a pretty awkward set of pictures that are doing the rounds today. Scarlett looks less than impressed. Who knows though, maybe the two are actually best friends, and it's just an unfortunate angle. Either way, John’s going to get a fair bit of stick today.

Elsewhere, no-one was letting ole’ Danny Zuko forget about his bluff from last year’s Oscars when he pronounced* Frozen* singer Idina Menzel’s name with all the grace and eloquence of that guy from work who likes to get battered and sing Lady Gaga songs without knowing any of the words.

First to take a punt was presenter Neil Patrick Harris who referred to Benedict Cumberbatch as ‘the sound you get when you ask John Travolta to pronounce Ben Affleck’. Later on Idina herself got payback by, waiting until the two were on stage together to present an award (in a move that definitely wasn’t staged, wasn’t staged at all) and called him ‘Glom Gazingo’. John took this as a chance to near-nuzzle Idina’s face and stroke her chin in a way that only Ryan Gosling pre-Rachel McAdams kiss in The Notebook can pull off and uttered, ‘I deserved that, but you, you my darling, my beautiful, my wickedly talented Idina Menzel’.

Erm. Right. As long as you had fun John.
