Although the procedure was carried out by a doctor not even authorised to perform surgery at that clinic, it doesn’t look like anyone at Yorkville Endoscopy will be prosecuted as a result of Joan Rivers’ death in September.

The results of an investigation into the 81-year-old’s death saythat she died after ‘a predictable complication of medical therapy.’ She had low bood oxygen and suffered brain damage while undergoing a routine operation at the New York clinic. Her death was not a homocide and was not a result of medical error, said the medical examiner.

The comic went into cardiac arrest during the procedure on August 28 and was placed on life support for a week. The report lists Propofol as the anestheisa used in her operation. Michael Jackson’s death in 2009 was a result of an overdose of Propofol, administered by Dr. Conrad Murray,

Specialist Dr. Gwen S. Korovin who performed the surgery on Joan Rivers was not authorised to work at that clinic, but operated on the comedian at the request Joan’s doctor, Dr. Lawrence Cohen. Dr, Cohen was also the medical director at the clinic and stepped down after it was discovered that Dr. Korovin wasn’t supposed to have been working there.

Joan's daughter Melissa responded to the news on Twitter saying : 'In response to NYC's Medical examiner's report, we continue to be saddened by our tragic loss. No further comment at this time.'
