Those mourning the end of the second series of Doctor Foster will be thrilled to find out that the show's creator, Mike Bartlett, is bringing a brand new show to BBC One next year, and it's set to be gripping.

Bartlett's new series is called 'Press' and will follow the lives of those working on two rival (fictional) newspapers - The Herald and The Post. The cast is looking promising, headed up by Ben Chaplin (Cinderella, Apple Tree Yard) and Charlotte Riley (Wuthering Heights, Peaky Blinders) and said to include Poirot's David Suchet and Game of Thrones's Ellie Kendrick and Brendan Cowell. The show will be directed by Tom Vaughan, who also worked on Doctor Foster. The BBC report Bartlett as saying 'I'm so happy to be working with the incredible Tom Vaughan again, and the talent of this amazing cast make me feel like the luckiest writer around. Press is a series packed full of stories and now we have the very best people to tell them'.

BBC Drama Controller Pier Wenger says: 'The newspaper business is part of Britain’s identity and Mike’s gripping stories of crusading journalists in this ever-changing industry, brought to life by this brilliantly talented cast make for a fresh, thrilling and utterly British contemporary drama'.

Although no air date has been scheduled yet, the series is being filmed at the moment and will be broadcast at some point in 2018. The final episode of Doctor Foster drew in about 7.2 million viewers, and the show's success has given Bartlett (a playwright) a new, broader audience.

Before 'Press' though, you can look out for ITV thriller 'Trauma', which was also written by Bartlett and filmed earlir this year. It will star John Simm (The Lakes, Doctor Who) in its lead role and is also expected to role out next year.
