The Devil Wears Prada Musical Is Coming In 2020 – That’s All

Please, produce it at a glacial pace. You know how that thrills us.

The greatest film of the 21st century so far is, without question, The Devil Wears Prada. Even when you realise that all of lead character Andy's friends are trash, and that her boyfriend is a whiny man baby who doesn't support her career, it's still an instant classic.

And now, as is traditional for any beloved film (Bring It On, Mean Girls, Heathers, Legally Blonde), it's being turned into a musical. And not just any musical. The book will be based on the Lauren Weisberger novel, and the music will be written by Elton John, who is responsible for some of the Lion King music, and Billy Elliot.

The show is going to kick off in Chicago on the 14th July 2020, and will probably end up on Broadway. We all have to hope very hard that it quickly transfers to the UK.

Will any actress ever be able to nail the terrifying Miranda Priestly 'that's all' quite like Meryl did?

Details about the cast haven't been released yet. The film starred Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly, Anne Hathaway as Andy Sachs and Emily Blunt as Emily Charlton. All of whom have been in musicals.

We realise it's not very likely that they'd all pick their roles back up with added songs, more than a decade after the film came out, but a girl can dream.
