What more could you want on a Monday that the delightful news that David Attenborough will be returning to the latest series of Blue Planet as the narrator? Perhaps this combined with a puppy delivering the news in a teeny tiny message in a bottle attached to his collar. Too far? Maybe too far…but if anyone wants to send puppy post our way. DO.

Back to David. The BBC isn’t bored of Blue Planet yet, praise the lords, 'cause nor are we. The new series will be returning to our screens after the success of Planet Earth II, and 90-year-old David is set to be the narrator on the show, again. There's no release date, but we'll keep you posted.

He released a statement announcing his part in the series: ‘I am truly thrilled to be joining this new exploration of the underwater worlds which cover most of our planet, yet are still its least known.’ He’s just so bloody lovely, that entire statement makes us feel so warm and happy. Truly thrilled. We’re truly thrilled David will be back on our screens.

The original Blue Planet aired in 2001 – which seems mental when you come to think about it – I was 11 and even back then the high-definition shots and intricate details of the underwater world were mind-blowing. The team are said to be working with the latest marine technology for the latest series, this includes two unmanned submersibles, which allows them to record footage from 1000 meters under the Antarctic Ocean.

So while we wait for the newest series (hurry up hurry up hurry up) let’s take a moment to sit and listen to David’s calming voice. It’s basically like meditating because after watching 10 seconds you feel so zen you can’t work.
