It’s outrageous enough that all those famous females had their phones hacked and nudes posted to the internet, but the story has taken on a somewhat darker twist as it’s been revealed at least two of the women were underage when the photos were taken.

Olympic athlete McKayla Maroney and actress Liz Lee were both victims of the hacker, who uploaded pictures taken before they turned 18. Basically, when he is caught, his charges are looking like they may be a whole lot more serious. The penalties for child porn are a lot more intense than those for adult porn and/or invasion of privacy.

Maroney originally said via Twitter that the pictures were fake, but her lawyer sent a letterto Porn.com letting them know that she was underage in the images, so it seems at least some of them were real. Porn.com immediately removed the images upon receipt of the letter.

Due to the child porn classification, the hacker could be looking at 40 years in prison, and that’s just for one of the charges he is facing. This guy will be going away for a very long time. Hopefully.

So, although it’s pretty bad that these girls were under 18 at the time of the pics, it’s going to help the case against the hacker, which bizarrely feels like some kind of messed up silver lining in the whole situation. And no, that doesn’t mean we’re discounting the severity of the news, it just means we want this guy brought to justice.
