After that expletive-filled rant leaked back in March at his ex-girlfriend, Megan Tomlin, the makers of The Only Way Is Essex have revealed that Dan Osborne won’t be coming back to the show.
A representative told MailOnline: ‘Dan was suspended during the last series of TOWIE and Lime Pictures and ITV have since decided he will not be returning to the show.’
‘I swear on this boy’s life I will end your fking life if you shag another man. Never in your fking life are you going to be with another man. I can swear on my son’s life,’ he was recorded as saying to his ex-girlfriend, in front of their son Teddy. ‘Shut your fking mouth, you fking ct. If you go near another man, I promise you I will stab you in the fking throat.’ Real nice. The pair had broken up in 2013, but Megan secretly recorded her ex as he ranted at her.
Once the tapes were leaked, Dan made a public apology, saying: ‘I am truly sorry to anyone who was offended by what they heard. I am unable to talk about the difficulties with my current family situation, but I am taking steps to resolve it to achieve the best outcome for my son. I am ashamed and embarrassed that I allowed myself to reach such a dark place that I behaved in a way that even I didn’t recognise.
‘While I acknowledge that there is absolutely no excuse for my deeply regrettable behaviour, I plead for some understanding that I had no intention of violence.
‘There are always two sides to every story and all of my friends and family who are close to me know that I’m not a violent person capable of anything like this. My words were said in anger and desperation at a very difficult time.
‘I love my son Teddy very much and I’m doing all that I can to see him as often as possible. I’m also very sorry to everyone at TOWIE that I have let down and thank them for their understanding and support while I take a short break to concentrate on my family.’
In an interview with New! magazine, Megan said, ‘The tapes you’ve listened to or read about were not a one-off. They were typical of Daniel’s behaviour towards me. The recordings were first made to seek help from family members. It was only through this that people were able to see the true extent of the problem.’
Dan’s current girlfriend, EastEnders actress Jacqueline Jossa, who gave birth to his baby in February, recently took to Twitter to defend her boyfriend, writing: ‘I can assure you I wouldn’t stand by a man capable of everything Dan has been made out to be, he is my best friend, boyfriend... And he is a brilliant father, above all else, I just want to clear up, he has never once been violent or even show signs towards me at all. People selling stories on him, show one side to a story, but people around Dan know the whole truth, and you would all be shocked. I am 100 percent not saying what Daniel has said was right or okay, but people make mistakes when in dark places, and it’s something... That we sorted out privately not in front of the whole world, it’s something he has apologised for and is embarrassed about.’
