Kick ass 69-year-old actress Dame Helen Mirren unveiled her new campaign with L'Oreal today, the first time she's lent her name to a beauty brand, and no, she hasn't been airbrushed to within an inch of her life.
Fronting such products as Age Perfect, Dame Helen has spoken about her (lack of a) beauty routine in the past, but admitted she does love a bit of makeup. But only a bit. 'I don't really know what a beauty routine is. But I love beauty products, and I'm always trying new ones. I wear make-up every day,' she said earlier this year. 'I love putting it on, and I get really into it: a little bit of this here, a little bit of that there - but then I stand back and look in the mirror and it's awful! It's absolutely true that, as you get older, you have to wear less and less make-up.'

Considering women over half her age are also fronting beauty companies, it's surprising (and excellent) that the emerging pictures from the shoot haven't been photoshopped. You can't say the same for the much younger Keira Knightley, Jessica Alba and Kate Moss - so perhaps Helen had a bit of say in the matter?
This also comes after Tilda Swinton was named the face of Nars, the dramatic photos serving to prove that, in a world where surveys come out saying men always prefer women to be 20 years old, right up to the age of 50 (ugh) and Renee Zellwegger's face can cause nothing short of an international outcry, we're starting to celebrate women beyond their 20s and 30s. Which is as it should be.
Go Helen.
