OK, our Daisy Edgar-Jones fangirling continues. The actress first got our attention playing Marianne in normal people, and has recently signed on to front Jimmy Choo’s latest campaign as well as taking the lead in new thriller, Fresh. But she’s putting all that aside to take a break for a good cause.
We all know that life has become a lot harder in the past six months. Many of us have lost our incomes. Our mental health has suffered. Our relationships may have strained. But with the severity of the first – and hopefully final – lockdown now beginning to loosen, we’re able to look forward again, and take comfort in returning to the things that we used to do regularly.
For some, one of these things is a cuppa and a chat with friends, and Macmillan Cancer Support’s famous coffee morning fundraiser – taking place on September 25th - has long provided us with the opportunity to enjoy the simple pleasures of life – friends, gossip, cake – while raising vital funds. But with social distancing still very much a vital part of life, and coffee mornings harder to arrange, Macmillan face losing a third of its fundraising income.
Enter Daisy, along with fellow actor Naomie Harris and presenter Fearne Cotton, who are doing 'whatever it takes' to remind us that there are ways to participate while staying safe – an outdoor coffee with a friend, a socially distanced get-together within the ever-changing governmental goalposts or, if you can, a simple donation.

Daisy participated in The Yard Theatre in Hackney Wick's acclaimed East End season in 2017. She played April in The Reluctant Fundamentalist, as part of a selection of work from the National Youth Theatre.

Before her perfect cut and enviable fringe, Daisy was a little more blonde in a 2016 appearance in the BBC's hit comedy, Outnumbered.

Again with the blonde. Like many young actors, Daisy has cut her teeth in police procedurals - but is too young to have been acting when The Bill was on air. So she popped up in forensic drama Silent Witness instead, in 2017.

Daisy played the role of Zara in 2020's revival of the 2017 hit Albion, by Mike Bartlett. It was lauded by many as the play of the year, and Daisy was praised for bringing a 'post-teenage grump and wide-eyed zeal for life to the role.'

Before Normal People, Daisy was probably best known for her role in Cold Feet. As Olivia - daughter of Karen and David - she brought drama and tears through her moving pregnancy storyline.

We love a good period romp. Daisy must, too. She popped up in two episodes of the wildly fun show, Gentleman Jack.

The fringe showed its face - do fringes have faces? - in last year's sci fi reimagining War Of The Worlds. Daisy played Emily Gresham, a teenager affected by an invasion.
‘Macmillan is always there for those of us who need support, and now more than ever they need our help to do their vital work’, says Daisy. ‘Having a Coffee Morning for Macmillan is a fun and easy way to raise money for a great cause and, even though this year things are a little different, it’s still important that we have a cuppa for Macmillan if we can, wherever we are, and give them our love and support.’
‘Wherever you are, please enjoy a cup of something and donate whatever you can to help Macmillan continue its truly vital work’, adds Naomie, soon to be seen in the next Bond film, No Time To Die.
‘Many of us know all too well the devastating impact of a cancer diagnosis and what a lifeline Macmillanis during the most difficult of times’, says Fearne. ‘They need our help now more than ever, to continue to help people with cancer every single day. Coffee Morning isn’t the same this year, but it will still be loads of fun and it couldn’t be easier to get involved.’
