Cynthia Nixon may be warming up for her biggest role yet, as Governor of New York. The actress, best known for her role as Miranda in Sex and the City, is being tipped to challenge Gov Andrew Cuomo in next year's race, The Wall Street Journal reported.
According to their report, Nixon is amongst a number of Democrats potentially set to challenge Cuomo for his post, and she has been approached by liberal groups encouraging her to make her case.

Unlike some other celebrities in politics (cough cough Donald Trump), Nixon is more than qualified for the role. She is an outspoken advocate on political issues, in particular education policy, and she has played an active role in New York politics since 2014 when she was placed on advisory board for the Mayor’s Fund To Advance New York City.
'She’s an out-of-the-box candidate with progressive credentials who would excite people,' Billy Easton, executive director of the Alliance for Quality Education, a public-education advocacy group, told The Wall Street Journal.
While The Wall Street Journal's anaylsis called Nixon's chances 'a long shot', we remain excited at the thought. Not just because we'd love to see Miranda in politics but if Nixon did successfully secure the position she would become the first woman to do so.
