In a world where celebrities rarely discuss the reality of maintaining unrealistically skinny frames, Courtney Love’s frankness about her weight and how it’s had her accepted – then rejected – in the fashion world is kind of admirable.

In case you weren’t aware (uh, we weren’t), Courtney was actually Riccardo Tisci’s first muse at Givenchy. ‘His first muse out the gate was me! I met Riccardo downstairs at the Ritz Hotel in Paris, and he told me he wanted me as his muse. I’m like, ‘Givenchy’s muses have been Audrey Hepburn and Jackie O!’ Courtney told Style.com

But things changed when she put on a few pounds, she says. ‘Then I got fat! Then I got on Atkins and I wasn’t fat anymore, so I could wear sample. You know, when the stakes are high, you do lose weight. When you fall in love, if your career’s depending on it – you will find a way to lose weight …’

Despite Courtney getting back to sample size, Riccardo moved on to Kim Kardashian: ‘Riccardo doesn’t make stuff for me anymore – he found Kim! But I still love Riccardo, he’s a dear friend.’

However, Marchesa was the one brand that kept Courtney when she put on a few pounds, says the singer. ‘They are always f***ing there for me, and I can’t thank them enough. Tiny, medium, and hopefully never large again, but they’ve always been there for me.’

We know Courtney’s known for her ‘frankness’, and sure it can sometimes feel somewhat incendiary, but her realness when it comes to weight and the fashion game is incredibly refreshing.
