What’s a maid of honour for? Well, to usher you in to the world of the married woman, sure. To tell you about the horizontal acts that are about to unfold and to teach you a thing or two about commitment. We get that. But, on a more fundamental note, they are there to dance with, to hold your drinks, to carry your shoes and to stay out until all the boring guests have gone home and you can let your hair down.

And then they’ll be there to hold your hair back as you retch into a toilet because you’ve been drinking Prosecco since 2pm and you were too excited to eat dinner.

Which is precisely what we like to imagine happened at Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux’s wedding. Courteney Cox, ie Monica Geller, ie the dark-haired one who drank beer in a veil and full white frock in The One With The Wedding Dresses, was Jennifer Aniston’s maid of honour. Yup. Monica was Rachel’s maid of honour. In real life.

Cox was also, according to reports in People (sure), one of the last to leave, staying at the party until 3am. She outpartied Ellen DeGeneres, Jimmy Kimmel and Lisa Kudrow. Alas, the rumours that she’s also joined the couple on their honeymoon seem to have been disproved by the fact that Courteney Cox’s fiancé Johnny McDaid tweeted that the two of them would be going to his band mate Gary Lightbody’s gig.

But hey, she might be joining the fun in Bora Bora later. We hope so. If only so she gets braids again to combat that crazy humidity hair.
