Move over Hilary Mantel. Pack up your typewriter Stephen King. Go home Elena Ferrante. There's a new literary heavyweight in town and we could not be more thrilled. Christine Quinn, our undisputed favourite on our ultimate guilt-free guilty pleasure show Selling Sunset, is adding a new skill to her set: author.
'Hi Loves!' Christine wrote on Twitter. 'I have a big announcement that’s dear to my heart and I wanted to share it with you all. Something super exciting is coming and I’ve been holding it in forever. I can finally announce that it’s official, I am writing a book!'
That was enough for us to reach for the pre-order button immediately, but with that yet to materialise we starting a session of pure speculation in the hope that all will be revealed soon enough. In theory, there were three potential avenues down which the queen of reality television could walk in her perfect stilettos.
First: a novel. We would love to see Christine create her own fictional world, populated by imaginary characters, that could be inspired by real life dramas. There's no doubt in our minds that she is capable of becoming the next Jackie Collins.
Second: a classic memoir or autobiography. Christine is the most interesting person on Selling Sunset - and on TV as a whole, if we're honest - so we'd be keen to learn all about her rise and rise in the spheres of real estate and media.
Third: a manifesto. Imagine it: The World According To Christine Quinn. A book dedicated to her philosophies and teachings which we could turn to when in need of life advice.
Our pure speculation soon came to an end, however, when Christine confirmed that it would be a blend of the second and third, and will be called How To Be A Boss Bitch.
She calls it 'part memoir, part manifesto calling for women to stop apologising for who they are, what they want and how they look, based on the author's journey from dropping out of high school to becoming an entrepreneur and TV personality.' SOLD!
Naturally, we have a little wait on our hands. If Christine is currently writing the book, then we're unlikely to see it on shelves in 2021, so we've got a 2022 release date in mind. She also has other things to concern herself with, such as filming scenes for the next season of Selling Sunset (so exciting!) and the birth of her first child with husband Christian Richard (even more exciting!). So we'll forgive her for not spending every hour of her day at her desk with a giant black quill and a jar of blood-red ink.
Christine, we salute you, and we can't wait to hear more.
