From her hilarious and resonant Trump-baiting tweets to her willingness to speak frankly about topics ranging from body positivity and ‘mum shaming’ to post-natal depression and IVF, Chrissy Teigen is, hands down, one of the most relatable A-listers around.
Now, Chrissy has revealed just what it takes to get her looking red carpet ready, in a time-lapse Instagram video which documents her hair and make-up routine (and the extensive glam squad required to achieve it) in minute - albeit sped-up – detail. Starting off with the model looking fresh-faced, apparently straight out of the shower, the weirdly hypnotic clip shows her hair being dried and styled, her face contoured and her eyes and brows defined with make-up. Of course, Chrissy looks radiant at the beginning and the end of the clip, but it’s certainly reassuring to note just how much high-level beautification goes into an A-lister’s ‘on duty’ face.
Posted to Instagram by Chrissy’s make-up artist Emma Osborne, the caption name-checks a handful of the beauty brands she’s used: EX1 Cosmetics, Iconic London, Beautyblender, Lancome and Becca Cosmetics, who Chrissy collaborated with on a sell-out make-up palette earlier this year.
The model and author has previously spoken about how she feels uncomfortable posting selfie-style images in which she’s been professionally made up - unless they directly relate to a particular ad campaign or shoot which she is proud of. Why? She doesn’t want to represent herself in an unrealistic way to her millions of social media followers.
‘I also feel like I really want to be cool with my body because of people like you guys,’ she explained in a discussion at Los Angeles BeautyCon earlier this summer. ‘That's why I don't post many make up selfies, because I don't feel anyone knows what a real face looks like anymore and it kills me that we have to completely wash a face or body out for it to get likes.’
‘My old ass will go on social media, and I will look at the Photoshopping, Facetuning, and the apps—and everything that goes into creating what is now a hit Instagram photo—and I feel insanely inadequate,’ she added.
