It’s fair to say we’re not huge Chris Brown fans in the office. So it was perhaps no suprise we weren’t completely thrilled when the ex-felon and professional, er, twat spent this weekend airing his dirty laundry in public once again by denouncing now ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran for allegedly seeing his hip-hop-nemesis Drake behind his back.
In true Chris Brown style, the accusations were anything but eloquent.
‘I’m single – fuck that bitch,’ Brown screamed at a concert on Friday, reports Vibe, before sinking to lower-than-gutter-level and divulging all kinds of personal information about his relationship with the model in a now-deleted Instagram post: ‘I was locked up for 4 months and only got 1 visit from u whilst you was hosting parties and taking secret trips to Toronto and going on dates with Drake!’
This, coming from a man who was said to be cheating on both Rihanna and Karrueche with each other over the years (one hell of a love-triangle considering Rihanna and Drake were also apparently a thing. More of a love-square, actually).
Brown’s Instagram post gets even more vile when he discusses intimate details of their relationship: ‘When this relationship first started u knew what is was and even participated in threesomes. I slowed all that shit down’. WHAT A GENT YOU ARE, CHRIS.
He then suggests Karrueche’s life was practically made as a result of their relationship: ‘[I] made your life equal to mine even at the cost of my career’ – sorry, did Brown miss the memo whereby a woman’s worth is now the same as that of her male counterpart? Think the message got passed around in like, 1887 or something. Could someone CC him in? PLEASE.
But reactions on Twitter highlight the entrenched double standards for men and women in relationships when Karrueche is derided more for ‘cheating’ than her notorious love-rat boyfriend. There’s even a faction of people on Twitter who think Karrueche should be grateful for the attention Chris has paid her as it’s raised her profile. Say what?!
Only a couple of people stopped to consider the fact that Karrueche was facing an unfair backlash, whereas Chris seemed to get off scot-free for previously doing the dirty on his girlfriends:
In response to Brown’s accusations, Karrueche released a dignified response last week stating that she refuses to be ‘mistreated’ by Brown anymore.
And today, Brown is all repentant and embarrassed, having posted another diatribe (or apology) on Instagram alongside a picture of him with his head bowed puppy-dog-style next to a giant painting of Karrueche.
He said: ‘Being young and dumb is one of my strong suits and emotional at best,’ he said. ‘I love hard and react impulsively when I’m hurt at times. I don’t think social media is a place to air out or hash out personal problems and a n---a feel hella WACK for doing it.’
‘So I AM APOLOGIZING I live in a glass house and the same s--t that makes me great also is my curse,’ he continued. ‘Everybody know I love that girl. I don’t care how my image look to the public because I’m still gonna be the best at what I do. I just want baby girl to know I apologize!’
Meanwhile, Karrueche has since posted and deleted a tweet promising that this is the ‘last time’ for her and Chris.
