In a recent interview with V magazine, actress/model Chloe Sevigny talks about how she loves great movie stars, but finds Jennifer Lawrence 'annoying' and 'crass.'
It's one of those things that causes intense eye-roll – while everyone's going on about the girl-on-girl hating, we're more interested in the just plain hating. It's not cool to slag off other actors, or anyone else, in interviews unless you've been really screwed over or you've gone out with John Mayer (we're joking, this is a joke).
'I love when a movie star is a great movie star,’ Chloe said. ‘I think Angelina is a great movie star. I like Emma Stone. Whenever she’s herself, she’s really cute. Jennifer Lawrence I find annoying. Too crass.’
It's weird, you don't often get Chris Pratt slagging off Channing Tatum, or any other male actors engaging in the sort of bitchiness that's on display here, so understandably it's now being reported as a bit of a gender battle.
We know women shouldn't hate other women, but the thing is, women do hate other women. And men hate some women. And women hate some men. And men hate some men. And some women hate certain dogs. Which is unfair, because what has the dog ever done to her?
But, seriously, it's less about women-on-women hating, and more about not being a bit of a dick in an interview. Chloe continued: 'They'll have a really peppy funny girl on the talk show rounds, and everybody adores her and loves her and wants to be her or f***her, and then so many more people want to watch the movie or TV show. I understand that star quality, how much value that carries.'
It smacks of plain rudeness – we all know that people work the talk-show rounds, and that it's just essentially a marketing ploy to get better ratings, and that some people are better at providing hilarious quotes than others, but it's all a part of the job. Don't hate on people who are doing it well.
It makes us sad, because we thought you were really cool, Chloe, and that's not something a cool person does.
