Warning: contains RuPaul's Drag Race UK Spoilers.
For most, meeting your idol is a big deal. But we presume that meeting your namesake is an even bigger deal. See this week’s RuPaul's Drag Race UK when drag queen Cheryl Hole finally met her biggest inspiration, Cheryl{
When introduced to the judging panel - which included Cheryl - RuPaul joked that Cheryl Hole’s name (referring to her time being married to Ashely Cole) sounded familiar.
The queen, who is in tribute Girls Aloud act Gals Aloud, was obviously made up at meeting her hero. ‘I never thought this day would come - that me and you would be this close,’ she said. ‘I’m not going to lie to you, the girls [Girls Aloud] have inspired me a lot from childhood, all the way up until Ten, when you disbanded and you absolute devvo’ed [sic] me. Obviously my namesake is because of you.’ Cheryl was flattered, and simply responded, ‘Aw, babe. I love that so much.’
Later in the episode, the drag queen also wowed the singer as she lip synced to her hit track Call My Name, with Cheryl saying that she did her proud.
Fans obviously loved the iconic meeting, with many sharing their love on Twitter. ‘I was genuinely so happy for Cheryl to meet Cheryl I cried a little bit,’ one said. Another added, ‘Seeing Cheryl freaking out over Cheryl is so cute.’
Much to the delight of fans, it was announced earlier this week that RuPaul's Drag Race UK will be returning for asecond series on BBC Three next year after hit ratings for BBC iPlayer. The finale of this year's series is on 21 November.
