It’s been a bit of a week for Cheryl Cole. It all started back on Monday when the popstar and sometimes holder of the coveted Nation's Sweetheart title, suddenly announced that after three months, she’d married her French boyfriend Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini (try saying that after a few gin in a tins). Since then she’s said that yes, she is now going to change her name to Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and no, he’s not a player that she can’t handle. Which all seems a bit much for one week if you ask us, give a girl a minute to catch her breath Cheryl love, there's a dear.

Now, in a new interview in today’s Times Magazine, as well as looking banging in the shoot, Cheryl’s got a whole bunch more off her chest. ‘He did it for me,’ she said, talking about her rather public sacking from US X Factor by Simon Cowell last year. ‘Though let’s not get it twisted. He didn’t do it for me. It just happened to work out the best for me.’ This autumn (our countdown's totally on BTW) when X Factor UK returns, Cheryl will of course be sitting on the judging panel with Louis Walsh, Mel B and erm, Simon Cowell, which sounds a bit like it might be the most awkward situation ever since that time you ran into your ex and his new girlfriend and you fell down and accidentally farted.

In the interview with Polly Vernon, Cheryl also opened up about her marriage with Chelsea star Ashley Cole, ‘There was no horribleness. Apart from what happened at the end. My marriage wasn’t bad. I wasn’t tret badly. I wasn’t a victim. We weren’t arguing. Nothing like that. It was just weakness on his behalf. Which is unfortunate. But. It happens.’ Nicely measured Cheryl, nicely measured, we probably wouldn't quite be as gracious as all that.

Nevertheless Cheryl looks like she's got it all sorted ATM. She's got a new single out tomorrow and an album to follow later in the year, and, if reports are to be believed she's happy as larry with this French chappie. Good on you love.
