It was all about our Brit gals at the Cavalli show in Milan this weekend.

Cheryl Cole's face is one we don't often see on the front row at fashion week, but the singer definitely got into the spirit of things as she sat on the Cavalli front row looking every inch the Italian fashionista. Somehow, Cherylmanaged to pull off an animal-print mac, slicked down ponytail and hefty earrings without looking at all Walford market.

Fresh from her Brit Awards win, Ellie Goulding spent her MFW debut nestled in between Cheryl and* Les Mis* actress Samantha Barks.

Although Ellie and Cheryl might be big names here in Blighty, we didn't spot too many Hollywood A-listers on the Cavalli front row. Maybe they'd got wind of Roberto Cavalli's recent comments regarding fashion's relationship with celebrity – and his dislike of it.

Speaking to WWD, Cavalli revealed he didn't understand why fashion houses spend so much money dressing celebrities.

'I wish fashion were less tied to communication and stars. I can’t understand all these fashion companies spending millions to dress celebrities. And the fault is also that of the media that fuel this frenzy.'

Despite dozens of high-profile stars choosing to wear Cavalli's designs, the designer refused to acknowledge that his brand contributes to fashion's love of celebrity.

'I don’t care to spend millions to dress Lady Gaga so that she can say she is wearing my clothes,' he said. 'That’s why I have pulled out of the Oscars circuit and I go to the Grammys. It’s different there.'

So, any celebrities out there looking to wear a Cavalli dress on the red carpet better get their wallets out – it doesn't look like there'll be any freebies coming from the Cavalli studio any time soon.
