Four years after her devastating ectopic pregnancy with Gary ‘Gaz’ Beadle, Charlotte Crosby has detailed exactly what she went through on the most recent episode of Geordie Shore: Their Story.
The trauma let to Geordie OG Charlotte quitting the show in 2017 following years of unrequited love for Gaz. The couple had finally made things official when Charlotte fell pregnant, but Gary was away filming Ex on the Beach alongside his former flame Lillie Lexie Gregg, leaving Charlotte to suffer alone.
Speaking on the MTV spin-off, which takes a deep dive into some of the show’s most famous faces’ personal stories, Charlotte recalled, 'The gynaecologist said, "What's happening to your body now is you're having an ectopic pregnancy where the egg gets trapped in the Fallopian tube and actually just starts to grow there until it can't grow no more."
'And I was literally on the verge of dying, if I'd left it any longer, I just wouldn't be here. My fallopian tube had split open and I'd been internally bleeding for the last week and then I got rushed into surgery.'
'I came around from the operation and the gynaecologist came in and told us that I had had my right fallopian tube and ovary taken away,' she continued, becoming emotional.
'And straight away I just thought, fuck I'm not gonna be able to have kids, like, this is awful.'
Charlotte has made no secret of the fact she wants to become a mum one day and has previously opened up about having 'waves of depression' following her pregnancy.
'It was an awful thing to go through it. I was shooting a promo for Geordie Shore when I felt like I was being stabbed inside,' she said in 2017.
'It's the worst pain. I just thought it was a bad period but the blood was thin and watery. So I got help. When I first saw my scan, it was clouds of blood. I just thought,"'Am I going to have children?" I began speaking to a psychiatrist and it put everything in perspective. Speaking to someone who is professional, it's like you have all the right answers.'
