What is a season of Celebrity Big Brother without a jaded Hollywood star in the lineup? Someone who probably wasn't clear on what their agent signed them up for, hasn't cooked their own meals in years, and is (very much) not au fait with British reality TV.
This year that person is Mickey Rourke, the Oscar-nominated actor who has appeared in films like Angel Heart, Sin City, Once Upon a Time in Mexico and The Wrestler.
The New York-born actor rose to fame in the '70s and has been to countless awards shows, dated and married several actresses and models and enjoyed a second career as a professional boxer. Now he is completing challenges with Chris Hughes from Love Island and Ella Rae Wise from TOWIE to win Weetabix and pot noodles in the weekly food shop.
Less than a week into his time in the house, there are widespread calls for Mickey to be removed because of some flagrant homophobic comments has has made towards his fellow housemate and former Dance Moms star JoJo Siwa. Along with saying, 'If I stay here longer than four days, you won't be gay anymore' and threatening to 'tie' her up, the actor said he was going to 'vote the lesbian out real quick'.
As a result, Big Brother called him to the diary room to say, 'Further language or behaviour of this nature could lead to you being removed from the Big Brother house.' A spokesperson for the programme has since said: 'All housemates receive respect and inclusion training and an extensive briefing from the Big Brother senior team to prepare them for living in the house and to set out Big Brother's expectation for appropriate behaviour and language.'
Regardless, Mickey has become a housemate that viewers have their eye on. Not only because of his problematic behaviour, but because of his ever changing appearance. As someone who has been in the public eye for more than 50 years, Mickey has undergone several transformations in his time – many of which were the result of his boxing career.
Speaking to the Daily Mail in 2009, he said of his surgery: 'Most of it was to mend the mess of my face because of the boxing but I went to the wrong guy to put my face back together. I had my nose broken twice. I had five operations on my nose and one on a smashed cheekbone.
'I had to have cartilage taken from my ear to rebuild my nose and a couple of operations to scrape out the cartilage because the scar tissue wasn't healing properly. That was one of the most painful operations, but the worst was haemorrhoids.'
However, his ex-wife Debra Feuer has previously confirmed that he's had cosmetic surgery too. 'He'll kill me for saying this but he wanted the part in one film so badly that he got cheek implants,' she told The Mirror. 'He told me he was swollen because he'd had his molar teeth removed. But I knew that was untrue – he didn't have any molars to take out.'
