Paris Hilton has announced she is engaged to her 'soulmate' Carter Reum. Paris told the world her happy news last week, sharing a few shots from the moment, where they're both dressed immaculately in white. 'When you find your soulmate, you don’t just know it. You feel it,' the socialite wrote. 'This weekend, Carter dropped to one knee. & I said yes, yes to forever There’s no one I’d rather spend forever with.'
The news wasn't so much of a shock - Carter and Paris have been dating for a year, and Paris had previously said she was '100 percent' sure he was 'The One'. Speaking to People, Carter was full of praise for his future wife, saying: 'I have gotten the unique opportunity to get to know the real Paris on a daily basis just the two of us during these past 15 months and I couldn't be more excited and lucky to have her as my future wife and partner. She shines with her kindness, work ethic, authenticity and her voice in making the world a better place and she will do the same as a future mother and wife.' Paris has confirmed that she will add his surname to hers as a hyphenate.
But, who is Carter, the man Paris is so smitten with? Like Paris, he's also business-minded. He's a former banker. But he's also an entrepreneur, and co-founded the all-natural vodka brand VEEV Spirits with his brother Courtney. Oh, and they also wrote a book about the venture to help share their wisdom, titled Shortcut Your Startup: Speed Up Success with Unconventional Advice from the Trenches. The brothers now run investment firm M13 - and it's thought Carter could be worth upwards of $35million. Nice. (Meanwhile, Paris is thought be to worth $300 million.)
So, how did they meet? Paris and Carter have known each other for 15 years, but it wasn't until her sister, Halle Hammond, invited him to spend Thanksgiving with their family that their relationship became romantic. According to Paris, 'We had our first date and haven’t spent a night apart since. It’s pretty amazing.'
