Politicians are no stranger to doing Strictly. Just think of Ed Balls, Anne Widdecombe and Edwina Currie. But now there's a rumour that another political figure - albeit an unelected official whose power is unofficial - is going to be dazzling on the dancefloor: Carrie Symonds{ =nofollow}, Boris Johnson's fiancee. Yep, you heard us correctly: apparently the Strictly team have been trying to line her up for the next series, as they think of her as the most 'glamorous woman' in politics.

'BBC bosses plan their line-up from the start of the year and Carrie was one of the earliest names on their list,' a source told The Sun. 'Strictly has become the No1 show for so many political figures and Carrie is one of the biggest names - not only as Boris’s better half but as a campaigner and activist in her own right.' They added that she's been in consideration 'for a while' and that they think she'd be 'a brilliant contestant'.

The paper have also added that, if Carrie is signed, then her fee would go towards the current Downing Street refurb row. (It's believed they carried out renovations on the flat above 11 Downing Street, reportedly to the tune of as much as £200,000 - even though the PM only received an annual public grant of £30,000 to spend on the flat.)

Also rumoured to be in the running for the next installment of the series is Maya Jama, GMB's Ben Shephard, Line of Duty's Vicky McClure and Gogglebox's Tom Malone. We'll believe Carrie's lined up for Strictly when we see her on the dance floor, to be honest. As much fun as it is to speculate, there are always rumours that seem to far-fetched to be true. Remember when someone insisted Jodie Comer was in the running?
