Carole Baskin has branded the advert which pleaded for information about her late husband, Don Lewis, during her Dancing With The Stars debut a 'publicity stunt' - admitting that she hasn't watched it. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Carole said: ‘I have not seen the ad. I am not at all surprised.’ She added of the commercial that only aired in Florida: ‘It’s just been a huge publicity stunt on their part, so what more could they possibly do than that?’
In Monday night's show she performed a paso doble with pro dancer Pasha Pashkov that opened with him locked in a cage with stuffed tigers.
But a commercial - which featured Lewis’ family and their lawyer John M. Phillips asking for information regarding the millionaire’s disappearance in 1997 - which was aired in an ad break garnered far more attention.
Since Don's disappearance, there have been rumours that Carole killed Don - and fed him to her tigers - rumours that were only stoked by the Netflix documentary Tiger King, after it was heavily implied by Joe Exotic and Lewis’s first wife and daughters. Carole has always vehemently denied the claims, and released a statement to the fact when the show aired.
'There are not words for how disappointing it is to see that the series not only does not do any of that, but has had the sole goal of being as salacious and sensational as possible to draw viewers,' her statement reads. 'As part of that, it has a segment devoted to suggesting, with lies and innuendos from people who are not credible, that I had a role in the disappearance of my husband Don in 1997.'
'Don Lewis mysteriously disappeared in 1997,' the lawyer says in the commercial. 'His family deserves answers, they deserve justice. Do you know who did this or if Carole Baskin was involved?' The advert also offers $100,000 for new tips about the case.
'We are a real family and to us, he was daddy,' Lewis’ daughter Gale begins. Lewis’ second daughter added: 'I’m Donna. I’m Don Lewis’ oldest daughter. We need to know what happened to our father.'
Carole's first dance was, aptly, to film soundtrack classic Eye Of The Tiger. She is just one of the high profile celebrities participating in Dancing With The Stars along with Selling Sunset's Chrishell Strause, rapper Nelly and Backstreet Boy AJ McLean.
