Supermodel Cara Delevigne and actress Ashley Benson have been together for, like, a year: talk about a power couple. They don’t pop up in the public eye all that often – that being said, when they do, it’s always excellent news. Remember when they moved the Dicktator Extreme Sex Machine into their apartment, or Made Out A Lot at the US Open? What I’m saying is, they don’t appear frequently but never disappoint when they do. As such, when Ashley posted some bomb nude pics to Instagram this week, Cara a) brought the adorable response we’ve come to expect and b) said what we were all thinking.
So, Ashley drops the photos – smouldery, smokey, black and white and packing all the gorgeousness that her 20 million Instagram followers know and love. We’re talking tasteful drapery, we’re talking cigarettes and leather boots and ‘oh, hi’ glances over shoulders – so when Rachel Brosnahan (of Marvellous Mrs Maisel et al) commented with a cross-eyed emoji, we nodded collectively. Amongst our ranks, Benson’s girlfriend.
Responding to the hapless, yellow little face, Cara posted ‘tell me about it.’ Echoing the sentiments of other supporters – many of whom also leapt straight to the thousand-word power of emojis (lots of heart eyes and flames, because sometimes that’s the only means of expression which will do) – Benson’s partner knows she’s a lucky girl, though it seems the feeling’s mutual. Ashley joined the comments party, replying ‘@caradelevigne I love you’.
Speaking in June after accepting a Hero award from the Trevor project, Delevigne made her feelings for Benson clear (and public). ‘I have a special woman to thank and you know who you are. She's one of the people who helped me love myself when I needed it most and I really needed it’, Delevigne said. ‘She showed me what real love is and how to accept it which was a lot harder than I thought. I love you, sprinkles.’
While it can’t be easy to keep things ticking along with such hectic schedules, it sounds like the pair are committed to making it work. In interview earlier this year, Delevigne said ‘Long-distance relationships are always tough. We make it work though. We have to. And it definitely makes me a better, happier person’.
And while Cara reportedly split from ex Annie Clark (ie, pop star St Vincent) due to conflicting demands on their time, it sounds like that experience has armed Delevigne for navigating similar challenges with new love Benson. ‘She’s the first person that has said: “You can’t push me away. I’m going to be nice to you, I love you.” I’m just like, “Wait, so all I have to do is just let you be nice to me? Why have I never done that before? Okay.’ Are you crying? Tell me about it.
