This weekend we were treated to some photos of Cara Delevingne and Michelle Rodriguez on a beach holiday in Mexico. Featuring the pair having fun in the sea, kissing passionately and splashing about, the images basically proved what we'd all suspected for a few months now; that Cara and Michelle are a proper thing.
Now,* The Debrief* didn't set about writing a story about it, because another website basically exhausted the story, using 55 images to illustrate it. Fifty. Five. Secondly, as sweet as it is to see proper photographic evidence that Cara and Michelle aren't just a showmance – you couldn't fake that sort of passion – all you need to do to prove that is piece together images from their Instagram feeds, or how Michelle's previously said they're a couple.
The photos, presumably there to shock the faint-hearted and titillate anyone with a pulse seem to have upset Cara. 'I really think that it's disgusting that Paris is the only place where it is illegal for paps to follow you around,' the 21-year-old tweeted overnight. 'It actually took someone losing there life! Diana, an inspirational woman and then it changed but they still won't change it in London! [sic]'
Cara, who's been papped in all sorts of situations since rising to It-model status, continued: 'It's horrible!! How many people have to get hurt or even killed to realise that it's not right? It scares me because they act like they're assassins with there telescope lenses, hiding in bushes or whatever they can find [sic]. 'Ha I actually used to feel so sorry for them, how boring it must be to follow people around all the time but some of them actually enjoy it.'
The tweeted diatribe was finished off with a seemingly rhetorical question: 'Rant done!! Needed to get that off my chest for a while! Also, I have never once seen a woman pap! Can someone explain that!?'
Though we can totally understand the sentiment of what she's saying – those photos are a bit iffy – it's interesting that Cara, who's been photographed in so many situations when she seems a bit worse for wear, has gotten so publicly annoyed about photos taken on a beach in Mexico.
Perhaps it shows just how much more privacy she expects while on holiday. Or maybe it's something to do with the fact it hardly helps for a model at the height of her game, meant to be envied by young straight women, to be so undeniably in a lesbian relationship.
