It’s only been a few months since Cara Delevingne and Ashley Benson sent the media into a frenzy by having what we all thought was a kitsch Vegas wedding. And while it actually turned out to be a symbolic ‘commitment ceremony’the media hasn’t stopped talking about the pair since.
They met on the set of music drama Her Smell, in which they played members of a rock band. Initially the pair kept their relationship private, avoiding posting photographs of each other on social media or discussing each other in the press. But this changed in June, when Cara gave an acceptance speech at an awards gala in New York and thanked Ashley for ‘showing me what real love is and how to accept it’. Since then it’s been clear to friends that the pair are committed to one another – with or without a wedding.
Now, Delevingne has opened up about their relationship, saying it’s the first time she’s let someone in.
‘I’d never truly let anyone in before, for fear of them leaving,’ she told Porter magazine. ‘I never really trusted people, or felt worthy of it, and I always pushed them away.’
She then goes on to say that Benson made it clear that pushing her away wasn’t going to be possible in this relationship.
‘She’s the first person that has said, “You can’t push me away. I’m going to be nice to you, I love you.” I’m just like, wait, so all I have to do is just let you be nice to me? Why have I never done that before?’

Delevingne also talks about finding her voice in her career in the interview, and reveals how badly she wanted to play Vignette Stonemoss in upcoming Amazon Prime show Carnival Row, alongside Orlando Bloom.
‘I would have done anything to play her. [Vignette] has lost so much, but she never plays the victim. She still has compassion and forgiveness for people who’ve hurt her. We can all learn something from her.’
