As we’re sure you’re aware, Cara has hung up her heels for good, and traded in modelling for the heady heights of Hollywood. As she's made very clear, modelling was not for her, and life on the silver screen clearly called.

Since embarking on her new career, Cara has scored some pretty impressive roles and rather seamlessly made the transition from successful model to successful actress. So how has she done it? Let's all take a moment to look back…

Anna Karenina

Cara’s first experience of the world of acting came courtesy of the 2012 adaptation of Leo Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina. It was a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo as Princess Sorokina, but Cara clearly caught the acting bug.

The Face Of Angel

Between 2012 and 2014 Cara dabbled with acting while concentrating primarily on modelling jobs. She popped up in a couple of short films, straight to TV movies and one Taylor Swift video before been cast in her first major role in The Face Of Angel. Inspired by the Amanda Knox murder case, the movie didn’t exactly receive the best reviews but Cara was praised for her role as Melanie - the love interest of a struggling filmmaker documenting the case.

Paper Towns

In 2015, Cara’s silver screen career really started to pick up when she was cast in the lead role for coming of age tale, Paper Towns. For the teen romance Cara perfected her American accent and showed off her other skill, belting out 80s tunes.

Pan

The same summer Cara took on an entirely different role, as a magical mermaid in Pan - the grown-up (and much darker) remake of the iconic Disney film.

London Fields

For her next project Cara found herself shooting with an all star lineup including Johnny Depp, Amber Heard and Billy Bob Thornton. Unfortunately the film adaptation of Martin Amis’s novel has never made it to release. The premiere was cancelled, and since then all has gone quiet. Fingers crossed this will be the year...

What’s next for Cara?

Cara’s schedule for the upcoming year is looking pretty chocka. Cara stars across Oscar-winning Alicia Vikander in Tulip Fever, a story about an artist who falls in love with the model he is painting - in a fun twist it’s Alicia who plays the model, not Cara.

Next up, something completely different, a role in the new superhero film, Suicide Squad. Cara looks nothing like she did in her modelling days as she takes on the part of the evil villian, Enchantress.

She’s also soon to work on Kids In Love, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, and is one of the many celebs to make a cameo in Ab Fab: The Movie.
