It's called Mirror, Mirror and doesn't seem to have anything to do with that Julia Roberts film, no.

Cara Delevigne Has Casually Written A Novel. Didn't See That Coming, Did You?

Cara Delevigne doing pretty well with the whole 'slashy' thing. She’s a model slash actress. And now, she’s a author too, apparently. You read that correctly, people, Cara Delevigne has written a book. A fictitious novel, to be precise. And on brief investigation, it will probably tell a far more relatable story than you might have anticipated.

Sharing her ‘pinch me moment’ on Instagram (because, where else), Cara posted a picture herself holding the manuscript for her debut novel, Mirror, Mirror and people are pretty buzzed about it.

In the caption, Cara said that the book is due to come out in October, which sounds like a really long way away. Nevertheless, she described it as a ‘twisty coming-of-age story about sixteen year old friends Red, Leo, Naima and Rose who are all trying to navigate the minefield of school and relationships. Until it all changes one day… (que scary music)’. That minefield sounds pretty familiar, right? The scary music, not so much.

The first thing that crossed our minds was whether or not this has anything to do with the story of Snow White, (because that’s where the whole ‘mirror, mirror on the wall’ thing come from if you’re down on your Disney trivia). That was closely followed by the realisation that these girls have really cool names. And not to judge a book by its manuscript selfie, but if they’re the brainchildren of Cara D, they’re probably going to be pretty cool people.

Cara has managed to keep this whole thing pretty tight lipped, and even in the big reveal, she has not given much away. But if you head over to the Mirror, Mirror Amazon page, the synopsis is a bit more telling.

It says: ‘Life isn't perfect, but they're united by their love of music and excited about what the future holds for their band. That is until Naima dies in tragic circumstances, leaving behind only one word. “Sorry”.’ We’re guessing this is where Cara’s aforementioned scary music comes in…

‘What awful truth was she hiding? What dark secret was lurking behind her seemingly sunny persona? And how did Red, the self-styled protector of the group, fail to spot the warning signs?

‘While Rose turns to wild partying and Leo is shrouded by dark moods, Red sets out to uncover the truth and find out what - or perhaps who - was responsible for Naima's death.’ Sounds bloody intense, don’t it? And I can’t say we’re not intrigued.

Back over on Cara's Instagram post though, she also said: ‘I love these characters so much, I love what they stand for, what this story represents. The process of putting this novel together has been life changing and something I hold really close to my heart!! I cannot wait to share with everyone!’

‘You can pre-order Mirror, Mirror now by clicking on the link in my bio… let’s start one big virtual book club!!!’, she added. ‘Cause I want us to talk about this time in life, self discovery, friendship, pain, triumph!! Being a teenager!! The experiences that shape YOU! #MirrorMirror’

Safe to say we'll all be watching this space to find out if any sort of digital book club actually materialises.
