Remember the days when the prospect of a customised t-shirt with a semi-dirty nickname printed across the back in fluorescent pink Lucinda Sans was really fucking exciting? Because a post-A Level holiday with your fellow just-of-legal-drinking-age gal pals wasn’t complete without matching outfits to travel in, of course.
And while the awkwardly staged group photos from Shagaluf, Napa or Ooh-Ah-Malia might make you cringe pretty hard as a grown-up twenty-something who has far better taste than that, if the actions of celebrities are anything to go by (for better or worse, life says they are) the era of silly, messy trips away with the team might be making a come back.

Cara Delevinge turned 25 over the weekend and obviously, the occasion was well celebrated. In an almost Taylor Swift 4th July-style feat (minus that faux wholesome vibe Tay prefers to go for) Cara and her fellow famous friends all went on holiday together and Instagrammed the hell out of it. Insta-famous Poppy Delevigne, Adwoa Aboah, Suki Waterhouse and Georgia May Jagger were all in attendance, of course. But instead of filling us with low-key resentment with flashy, 'look at me, I'm a celebrity on a yacht' photos, Cara's birthday trip only went and made a case for the stereotypical #girlsontour holiday of our 18-year-old dreams. Take a look...
They wore matching outfits to the airport
They had great shit t-shirts made with Cara's face on
They took silly 'sexy' group photos
That got sillier and sexier with drinks
They managed to get that one nice group shot
There were props involved
And bathroom mirror selfies, of course
Basically, we wanted to be there.
So, forget the posey, pouty, pretentious Instagram snaps we've become accustomed to. There are no artfully assembled pictures of brunch on the beach here, my friends. No 'candid' shots of people looking over their shoulders against the backdrop of an unplaceable sunset with an emotionally draining caption. Just some good old fashioned lolz with pals. Refreshing, isn't it?
It goes without saying that Cara did the whole thing a lot better than we ever did back in the day (she's older, wiser and has a hell of a lot more money to put behind it) but she essentially recreated our first trip away with the girls. A homage to the authenticity of a genuinely fun holiday pre-generation Insta, of sorts. And we're really, really here for it.
