As Oscar time rolls round again there are a few things you can bank on - there’ll be a fashion faux-pas or three, at least one poor actress will struggle on the stairs (we are looking at you J-Law) everyone will hate on Anne Hathaway and it will be a very, very long night.

But for psychic medium to the stars Thomas John, whose track record could make the bookies tremble, he’s made a career out of those forecasts.

Thomas has such a good reputation in Hollywood for getting it right on Oscar night that nominees approach him before deciding whether or not to bother penning an acceptance speech according to reports.

And what does he think Sunday’s ceremony has in store then? ‘I see a famous male presenter with dark hair up on stage and tripping because he’s intoxicated,’ says Thomas. ‘Also, a famous female presenter is going to have a wardrobe malfunction.’

In 2013, John predicted that an actress in white would trip (Jennifer Lawrence). Last year, he predicted that a woman in red would take a tumble (J-Law again).

In terms of who is awarded what Thomas reckons the Best Actress Award will go to Julianne Moore for Still Alice, Best Supporting Actress to Patricia Arquette for Boyhood and Best Actor to our very own Eddie Redmayne. Hurrah!

This year he reckons Meryl Streep will go in Oscar de la Renta and Keira Knightley in Chanel –adding: ‘Definitely a better dress than the one she wore to the Golden Globes,' and that Marion Cotillard will make a boo-boo in black Dior.

As well as the psychic predictions an analysis of thousands of social conversations by musicMagpie found that the great British public are blabbing the most online about Bradley Cooper and rooting for the American Sniper star to walk away with the award for Best Actor this year.

The fans, dubbed the "Mini Coopers" are now outnumbering Benedict's "Cumberbitches" and Eddie's "Redmaniacs" in mentions according to the data of over 300,000 social messages. According to the study Brits also reckon Birdman will take home the Best Picture award.

Only time will tell whose predictions will prove fruitful. Roll on Sunday, we say.
