Remember when an American costume company created a Halloween costume inspired by Caitlyn Jenner's Vanity Fair cover? It caused outrage on social media, with many users complaining that it was "disgusting" and made fun of her.
At the time, Retailer Spirit Halloween defended the costume, claiming it "celebrates" the reality star's transition from male to female. And it turns out Caitlyn Jenner herself agrees.
Speaking in an interview with Matt Lauer on the Today show, Caitlyn said that she didn't find the costume offensive.
"When you hear that there are companies out there that want to do Caitlyn Jenner costumes for Halloween from the Vanity Fair cover, are you in on the joke or do you think it's offensive?" Matt asked.
"I'm in on the joke. I don't think it's offensive at all," Caitlyn replied. "I know the community does and they've gotten a lot of criticism for doing it. I think it's great."
She added: "To be honest with you, I think it's great. They could have a better looking outfit for him, you know?"
"We could have done my own costume," she joked. "I mean that was a serious bustier on the cover of Vanity Fair, you know?".
Despite her comments, transgender activists expressed concern over the costume, and set up a petition on change.org asking the company to stop selling it.
