Brooklyn Beckham, 16, has appeared on his second front cover, this time for Rollacoasta magazine. Looking, as ever, like 4 parts Victoria Beckham and 2 parts David Beckham, one thing’s for sure; he’s fitting in to the Beckhams easier than any teenager fits into their family at that age. In fact, he’s just so very much like his dad. Apart from the, um, tattoos and facial hair, he’s wearing monochrome Adidas sportswear (remember that Adidas have been his dad’s sponsor since 1997, two years before Brooklyn was even born), a white cagoule/parka thing, and a fluffy-collared camouflage jacket. All of these really wouldn’t look too out of place on his 40-year-old dad, and they even share the same hair cut, a short-back-‘n-sides fade with a gelled up quiff on top.
We’re not saying Brooklyn should go ultra normcore and only wear fleeces with doghair in to make a point. But even Victoria told Ellen DeGeneres (and the world) of her first-born: ‘He's a good boy’ and we’re wondering when his squeaky clean reputation is going to go the way of just about every other celebrity kid around.
Maybe the Beckhams, who’ve always tried to keep their kids grounded (after the whole marrying on a set of thrones thing, where else can you go?), have succeeded in having a nearly-grown adult who is basically still a little mini-them.
But, if Brooklyn does eventually carve a path out for himself as separate to his parents and their fame, what’s that path going to look like? Sex? Drugs? Rock n’ Roll? Sleeping with the fans who comment stuff like: ‘His face was crafted by angels’ under his photos? Slagging off family friend Gordon Ramsay? Becoming a rapper where he proceeds to freestyle about all the hard times he’s been through? The possibilities of silly things to do are absolutely endless…
