According to BabyNameWizard.com, the name Sonia peaked in the 1970s. And while there is no record of the long-term effects of Sonia from EastEnders, played by Natalie Cassidy, on parental baby name choices across the UK, it’s still a bit of an obscure name, with the only real famous Sonia being the long-suffering soap character who went out with Dean Gaffney (on the soap, that is).
But that changes now, because, as well as designer Sonia Rykiel, there is Sonia Ben Ammar, who is an actress and Brooklyn Beckham’s new sort-of girlfriend. (Remember when he Instagrammed a photo of the back of a girl’s head in Paris? That’s Sonia.) The pair were spotted properly toegether, attending an event at CBS Radio’s We Can Survive Hollywood Bowl gig together, getting close, and being as couply as you’d expect a pair of 16 year olds in the limelight to be. So, not hugely. That doesn’t mean his fans aren’t beside themselves about the union, though.
Underneath a pretty boring black and white photo of a diamond bracelet on his wrist, fans have been leaving messages like, ‘But i luv u’; ‘ME AND BROOKLYN ARE TOGETHER’; and, ‘U breaking my heart.’
As for Brooklyn’s ex, Chloe Moretz, who was also at the We Can Survive gig? We’ll just have to assume that she didn’t run into Brooklyn and his new... person he’s hanging out with. We know how precarious young relationships can be – it’s probably not the time to start putting labels on things.
