Britt Robertson may not be a household name quite just yet but the 26-year-old actress is certainly set for mega stardom. After a steady succession of roles on both the small and big screen, Robertson recently landed her biggest part to date: the lead in new Netflix show Girlboss.
Based on the life of Sophia Amoruso and her tell-all novel, #Girlboss, the show documents Amoruso's success story from selling clothes on eBay in her bedroom to CEO of major fashion brand, Nasty Gal. Ahead of Girlboss landing on Netflix this April, here’s everything you need to know about Robertson…
She Left Home When She Was 14
Born in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1990, Robertson is the oldest of seven and has three step-sisters and three step-brothers. At just 14 she left North Carolina and moved to LA with her grandma to pursue her acting dream.
As A Teen Actress She Hung Out With Hilary Duff
Like a lot of teen stars, when Robertson first moved to LA she lived in the Oakland Apartments - a hub for child stars and their families - and her neighbours included Hilary Duff and Frankie Muniz. ‘I would follow them around and try to be their friends and they would have no interest in me whatsoever. I wouldn't consider them really friends, but I definitely saw them and would stalk them like a weirdo,’ Robertson told Interview magazine.
She Got Her First Big Break In 2007
Robertson began acting at age 12 with performances at her local theatre but her first big role came in 2007 when she bagged the part of Michelle Seaver in TV film Growing Pains: Return of the Seavers. This led to roles in the 2007 film Dan in Real Life as well as TV parts in CSI and Swingtown.
In 2014 She Won A Boston Film Festival Award
Her role in White Rabbit saw her scoop a Boston Film Festival Award for Best Supporting Actress. This led to two parts in big Hollywood films: Nicholas Sparks’ The Longest Ride and Brad Bird's Tomorrowland.
Her Boyfriend Is Also An Actor
Britt Robertson has been dating Dylan O'Brien since 2011. She met the Teen Wolf star on the set of The First Time.
If She Wasn’t An Actress She Would Be A Rapper (Or A Cleaner)
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Robertson admitted that she has a secret talent for rapping - something she treated her The Longest Ride co-stars to on set. If that didn't work out, Robertson revealed she would be happy working as a housekeeper. We feel like she won’t have to be doing that anytime soon…
