For lovers of Bridget Jones, 2016 is set to be a good ‘un. As you’re probably aware, Bridget is back this September for a third installment of the much-loved cinema franchise. Bridget Jones’s Baby hits cinemas on September 16th, and shortly after a fourth installment of the book series will be released.
Original Bridget Jones author Helen Fielding shared today that she is working on a book titled Bridget Jones’s Baby: The Diaries, out on the 11th October. The novel, based on Fielding's original columns for The Independent, will chart the ups and downs of Bridget’s first pregnancy. For anyone that has read Fielding’s 2013 novel Mad About A Boy, this new book could be seen as a prequel.
According to the synopsis the book will be ‘full of cheesy potatoes, outlandish advice from Drunken Singletons and Smug Mothers, chaos at scans and childbirth classes, high jinks and romance, joy and despair.’ Sounds just like the Bridget we know and love.
Talking about the new release, Fielding said: 'At heart Bridget Jones is about the gap between how we all feel we’re expected to be and how we actually are and – as Bridget discovers with her somewhat bumpy pregnancy - how we expect life to turn out and how it actually does.'
The countdown is on.
