Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are embroiled in another legal battle. The pair might have divorced six years ago, but the courtroom drama only continues. On Thursday Brad filed a lawsuit against his ex-wife Angelina for 'unlawfully' selling her stake in their co-owned vineyard, Château Miraval.

The winery is located in the village of Correns, in south-east France, where the couple married in 2014. The former couple bought the estate for a sum of €25m (about £20.8m) in 2008. According to the lawsuit, in October Angelina sold her stake in the Chateau Miraval SA company to a Luxembourg-based spirits manufacturer controlled by businessman Yuri Shefler - without communicating with Brad.

The legal document goes on to detail that Angelina's latest move allegedly caused Brad 'gratuitous harm' because he 'poured money and sweat equity' into the business. According to his lawyers, the former couple agreed they would never sell their interests without the other's consent.

'The vineyard became Pitt's passion - and a profitable one, as Miraval, under Pitt's stewardship, has grown into a multimillion-dollar international success story and one of the world's most highly regarded producers of Rosé wine,' legal documents stated.

The lawsuit claims, 'She sold her interest with the knowledge and intention that Shefler and his affiliates would seek to control the business to which Pitt had devoted himself and to undermine Pitt's investment in Miraval.'

Allegedly Brad contributed 60% of the purchase price of the estate, while Angelina contributed the remaining 40%. According to Brad's lawyers, the wine business at the property continues to flourish and in recent years his ex-wife had 'no involvement in these efforts', yet she has 'benefited' from its success.

The actress reportedly informed her ex of her decision to sell to Shefler in January 2021, saying she had reached a 'painful decision, with a heavy heart.'

Brad Pitt's lawyers have requested a trial by jury.
