Brad Pitt was sorely unimpressed when Ukrainian prankster Vitalii Sediuk punched him on the red carpet of the LA premiere of Angelina Jolie's Maleficent.

The actor-turned-producer was so unimpressed, in fact, that he's given a rare statement to explain just how much he hates Sediuk, the man whose CV as a celebrity annoyer for Belgian TV includes kissing Will Smith as he interviewed him on the red carpet, climbing under America Ferrera's dress at Cannes, ruining Adele's Grammy acceptance speech and grabbing at Leonardo DiCaprio's crotch at a premiere.

Brad explained his version of events – Sediuk climbed over a barrier and 'latched on to my lapels. I looked down and the nutter was trying to bury his face in my crotch, so I cracked him twice in the back of the head – not too hard – but enough to get his attention, because he did let go.'

Brad added in the statement, made to People, that the punch might have been misconstrued: 'I think he was then just grabbing for a hand hold because the guys were on him, and he reached up and caught my glasses.'

But still, even if Sediuk had only innocently meant to grab at Brad's crotch, the* 12 Years A Slave* actor isn't contesting Sediuk's battery charge, which saw him flung into prison awaiting $20,000 (£11,940) bail.

'I don't mind an exhibitionist, but if this guy keeps it up he's going to spoil it for the fans who have waited up all night for an autograph or a selfie, because it will make people more wary to approach a crowd.' Gotta love that selfie mention, Dad. And, yes, we can call you Dad, you are literally old enough to be our dad, which, hey, gets conflicting, but that's our cross to bear.

Brad has one parting shot for Sediuk, referencing that time he tried to humiliate* Ugly Betty*'s America Ferrera by hiding under her skirt: 'And he should know, if he tries to look up a woman's dress again, he's going to get stomped.'

Oof. We like a guy with throwdown. Extra conflicted now.
