Though the couple don't shy away from speaking about each other in interviews, they keep their home life immensely private. It all began in 2010, when Blake and Ryan were cast as the leads in the movie Green Lantern. Though unlike Serena and Dan, Blake and Penn didn't last, and the pair reportedly ended their relationship for good in September 2010.

In the June/July issue of Details, Ryan spoke about his painful divorce. 'Anyone who gets divorced goes through a lot of pain, but you come out of it,' he said. 'I'm not out of it yet. At all. But I sense that as I do come through it, there's optimism. How can there not be? I don't think I want to get married again, but you always reevaluate these things.' Ryan and Scarlett's divorce was finalised in July, meanwhile Blake was pictured in Europe with Leonardo DiCaprio, sparking plenty of dating rumours. Green Lantern was released in June, and Blake and Ryan attended countless premieres and press events to promote their film. At the MTV Movie Awards in June they both presented the Best Kiss award to Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, but it was evident that it was Blake and Ryan who were getting closer and closer. In October and November, Blake was spotted leaving Ryan's apartment time and time again, and rumours were flying that the pair were an item. Their relationship was confirmed when they were spotted holding hands in Ryan's hometown of Vancouver in December.

In September, after just one year of dating, the couple married in secret in Boone Hall Plantatation, South Carolina. (Ryan has since admitted they 'deeply regret' holding their wedding at a former slave plantation.) In the October issue of Allure, Blake - who when interviewed was not yet married - was evasive about her relationship with Ryan, but said, 'I'm so peaceful. I've never been happier in my life.'

In 2014 the couple made their Met Gala debut, both wearing custom Gucci. Blake dazzled in a pink beaded gown with her hair in perfect Hollywood waves, and Ryan looked suave in a classic black tuxe. Speaking to Marie Claire for their September issue, Blake gushed over Ryan. 'We've never gone a week without seeing each other,' she said. 'There's no major decision that I make without him. The best part is when we turn off our phones and just talk and hang out. He's my best, best friend. What do you do with your best friend? You do nothing.' When talking about having kids Blake hinted that she and Ryan were planning a family, saying, 'I gotta get started. If I could spit out a litter of kids, I would.' In October 2014 the couple proudly announced that they were expecting their first child. They attended the Angel Ball in New York and Blake showed off her baby bump in a plunging pale yellow dress by Gucci. Their daughter James was born December 16 2014, but the news was not announced until January 2015.

Throughout 2015 the couple remained very low key while they raised baby James. Ryan released a few films including Woman in Gold, and Blake played the lead in The Age of Adaline - her first role since Gossip Girl ended.

In February 2016 the couple made their red carpet comeback when they attended the Deadpool fan event, and Blake looked beautiful in a one-shoulder ivory Chanel Haute Couture dress. Also that month they attended the amFAR New York Gala and looked very much in love. When talking to People magazine on SiriusXM's Entertainment Weekly Radio Deadpool special, Ryan revealed that he owes his relationship with Blake to a double date: 'About a year after Green Lantern had come and gone and we were both single we went on a double date – she was on a date with another guy and I was on a date with another girl – and it was like the most awkward date for the respective parties because we were just like fireworks coming across.' He expressed that he thought it was best for their relationship that they were friends first, and it has most definitely done them wonders.

May 2016

In May 2016 Blake and Ryan attended the White House State Dinner in honour of Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, and Blake wowed in a silk Ralph and Russo wrap dress. Also that month they flew to France for the 67th annual Cannes Film Festival, and Blake wore a black and white Gucci Premiere gown. Soon after, while Blake was filming The Shallows, she and Ryan announced that they were expecting their second baby together. When speaking to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show in June, Blake joked about what it's like having a husband who is a sex symbol. 'I was on a plane with my baby, James, and it's kind of torture these days because I'm on a plane and everywhere I look, every screen is my husband in a sex montage throughout the holidays with another woman,' she told Jimmy. "Everybody wants to watch Deadpool on the plane. Everyone!' Speaking to Marie Claire Blake spoke about her relationship with Ryan saying, 'I knew he would always be my best friend for my whole life. That was the biggest thing to me. I'd never known anything like the friendship that I had with him. I could like him as much as I loved him.' And if things couldn't get more perfect, Blake gave birth to their second daughter, Ines, on September 30 2016. In December 2016 the whole family made their first appearance at the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, where Ryan was honoured with his own star. Until this point their two daughters had almost never been photographed or even featured on Blake or Ryan's social media profiles. Of course, the girls are genetically blessed and oh-so cute, and to top it all off Ryan had a sweet message for Blake when his star was unveiled. 'I want to thank my wife, Blake, who is sitting right there, who is everything to me,' he said. 'You are the best thing that has ever happened to me.' Perfect, right?

2017

In January 2017, Blake and Ryan attended the Golden Globes. Ryan was nominated for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy for his performance in Deadpool. Also in January, Blake won Best Actress for her performance in The Shallows at the People's Choice Awards, beating the likes of Meryl Streep, Amy Adams, Emily Blunt and Julia Roberts. In her acceptance speech she thanked Ryan saying, 'Thank you to my husband, who's everything to me.' Then, when an audience member wooped at the mention of his name, Blake joked and said, 'you can't have him, he's mine!' We know, Blake, and we envy you. Then comes February when in true Blake style, she threw the ultimate Galentines party with her sister Robyn and for Valentines Day. However, she did let slip that Ryan had bought her an 18-karat gold and diamond earring by Anita Ko, in the shape of a cupid's arrow. Adorable. A few months later, we finally got some inside information about the Blake's birthing plan. While playing a game of Fact or Fiction with none other than Michael Kors Ryan revealed that while Blake gave birth, he played Marvin Gaye's Let's Get It On in the background. This feels like something we should find weird, but it's Ryan Reynolds, so no. The hilarious trolling continued later that April when Ryan made it onto Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People list, Blake congratulated him with this Insta post and the caption 'Congratulations to the most influential person in my life. The best man I know… you deserve this Time 100 honour… If only my husband wasn't blocking you in this shot. I'm so sorry John Legend.' Then in October, we received our own special gift for Ryan's birthday, that is, more trolling from Blake. After he had celebrated her birthday by posting an image on Instagram where she was cut out, she retaliated with an image of him and Ryan Gosling, where Reynolds was cut out, with the caption 'Happy Birthday, baby'. Obsessed.

Of course, in November, Ryan was quick to retaliate. When images surfaced of Blake on the Dublin set of The Rhythm Section, looking very much 'made-under' with a shaggy blonde bob and sweatpants, Ryan posted it to Insta with the caption '#nofilter'...

The couple fell silent for the majority of 2018, at least we didn't see as much hilarious trolling or adorable public outings. However, the world fell into shock in May when Blake unfollowed Ryan on Instagram. Luckily, it was all part of a promotional tool to publicise her latest film A Simple Favour. She deleted everyone only to begin posting again during the films promo tour. And when she did begin posting? Well, we were treated to even more secret information about the birth of her children. After posting 'what happened to Emily?' on Twitter, in reference to her character in the film, Ryan replied saying, 'You can tell me. We're married. You once drove me to the hospital when you were giving birth. So… what the f*ck happened to Emily?' Yes, Blake actually drove Ryan to the hospital while in labour, this woman is a hero.

That was until Taylor Swift revealed their third daughter's name on her album folklore, with a song called betty. Fans worked out Taylor was announcing the name when they noticed that Betty's two other siblings, big sisters James and Inez, are also used in the lyrics. Swift sings on the track: 'She said 'James, get in, let's drive.' 'You heard the rumors from Inez.' Well, that's cooler than an announcement on Instagram or in the local paper.
