Mixing one of the world's coolest young musicians with a legendary film franchise was always going to lead to something interesting. So of course Billie Eilish's first performance of her new Bond theme - No Time To Die - was a highlight of this year's BRITs. The singer, who is nominated for Best International Female Artist, took to the stage in a glittering black outfit at the O2 to perform the track, with the help of her brother Finneas - her collaborator - along with Hans Zimmer and Johnny Marr. In short, it left us shaken and stirred in all the best ways.
The song has already gained millions of listens on YouTube, and has even received approval from Daniel Craig, who had to sign off on Billie's offering before it was confirmed as the title track.
'He has a big say in it', Billie says. 'We learned that from this. He's really involved. We haven't met him but he's got to like it before they move on.' The performance came a day after Finneas explained the writing process behind writing an iconic Bond song.
‘We were given the first 20 pages of the script, which was obviously incredible,’ he told GQ Hype. ‘It gave us such a good steer. Billie and I wrote the song, recorded the demo, then finished it in London with Hans Zimmer doing the orchestral arrangements and also Johnny Marr from The Smiths. I mean James Bond? Hans Zimmer? Johnny Marr? Mind-blowing.’
No Time To Die is in cinemas on April 10th.
