Live Lounge Month by Radio 1 is usually a glorious thing. Over the month of September, the best and biggest artists from around the world treat us to live performances of their latest hits - but, best of all, deliver covers. Which track to perform is a massive decision for an artist - do they risk it and go for something super current? Try a surprising mash-up? Go for a classic? Earlier this week, Miley Cyrus nailed it with a performance of her new track, Midnight Sky, and a gorgeous cover of Billie Eilish's my future.
However, today, Biffy Clyro, those men famous for performing without their shirts, probably didn't garner the response they hoped for - as they absolutely murdered a cover of Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B's WAP. You can watch it below. Personally, I would not recommend it as my ears now hurt and my day has been ruined.
Right, so, the song choice is already questionable. Three white men performing a track - by two black women - about the joys of female sexuality. It should be quite obvious, but this song is not for you! Read the bloody room, lads!
But it gets even worse - as apart from singing 'wet ass pussy' they replaced 'pussy' for 'Biffy' leaving us with 'wet as Biffy'. God above, can you hear me scream? I don't think I have ever cringed more in my life.
Who approved this? Who actually thought this was okay?
I have had to endure performances from Biffy as I wait for the main act at a festival too many times in my life, so I've never been their biggest fan, but this has tipped me over the edge.
Anyway, I'm off to watch Lizzo performing Harry Styles' Adore You from earlier this year. (Ooh, that flute.)
