Everyone's been talking about it: Bradley Cooper's directorial debut, the remake of musical A Star Is Born, featuring BEYONCE in the lead role...
A Star Is Born was released in 1954 and starred Judy Garland as Esther Blodgett (or Vicki Lester) – the aspiring actress whose dreams of stardom are made possible by the patronage of a once legendary actor in the twilight of his career. The musical was itself a remake, of a 1937 film of the same name, starring Janet Gaynor and Fredric March.
Following the success of his Oscar nomination for American Sniper, rumour had it Bradley was keen to sit in the director's chair for the very first time to lead the project. However, all rumours of such a debut have now been quashed. Because according to pagesix.com Beyonce's fee far exceeded expectations and, when combined with the proposed production budget, Warner Bros allegedly 'balked' and decided to pull the project altogether.
NOOOOOOOO!
Of course other sources have said other things. Like Bradley still being interested in directing the film, and it being on the 'back burner' etc etc. But the fact remains: A Star Is Born starring star Queen Bey is not to bey – for the foreseeable future anyway.
SIGH.
