What Is Going On With Bella Hadid And The Weeknd At Cannes? An Investigation…

First came Gigi Hadid’s reconciliation with ex Zayn Malik (or at least that’s what the latest paparazzi photos – showing the former couple kissing while out on a coffee run in New York – have lead us to assume). Now, it seems that younger sister Bella is jumping on the ‘getting back with your ex’ bandwagon, too: the model was spotted – and photographed! – looking very close with her former boyfriend The Weeknd at a party in Cannes last night.

Here are the facts as we understand them. Bella, who is currently hanging out on the French Riviera in her new capacity as latest face of Magnum ice cream, arrived at the Magnum x Alexander Wang party with the designer. When The Weeknd, who is currently hanging out on the French Riviera for reasons that are yet to be disclosed, turned up, he headed over to the VIP area and greeted his ex with a hug and a kiss.

The former couple, according to the Daily Mail, ‘only had eyes for each other […] They were both partying with their closest friends and The Weeknd looked very much “part of the family.”’ At some point in the proceedings, a photographer managed to snap the pair kissing, and though the pictures are very, very low-res, they’re hard to argue with as proof that Bella and The Weeknd are on much better terms than average exes. To add a little more fuel to the fire, they eventually left the party in very quick succession. The plot thickens.

These photos follow rumours that the couple were kissing at Coachella (rumours that Bella herself eventually shut down with a Shaggy lyric, commenting ‘It wasn’t me’ below an E! News Instagram post hinting that the pair had reconciled).

So, are they back together for good? It’s long been rumoured that Bella and The Weeknd, who called time on their relationship in 2016, would eventually reconcile, and a flurry of reports late last year suggested that the pair had been tentatively ‘hanging out’ after the musician (whose real name is Abel Tesfaye) broke up with Selena Gomez. At the time, a source told E! News: ‘[Bella] still loves him but has her guard up. She never really got over him […] She would give Abel another try, maybe down the road, but is taking small steps before she jumps back into a relationship.'
