That iconic tent from The Great British Bake Off spent two seasons of the show sat on the grounds of Harptree Court in North Somerset, which is now on the market. So, if you’re an avid fan of soggy bottoms, fancy living in the same house as Mary Berry did for 12 weeks and have a spare £5 million then get ready to make an offer.
The country house, located in Chew Valley, has been in owner’s Charles and Linda Hill’s family since 1920 and for the past 13 years, has been running as a luxury bed and breakfast. Back in 2012, the couple received a phone call from the Bake-Off team, and two weeks later were literally living on set with Mary, Paul, Sue and Mel.

Upstairs bedrooms were transformed into production offices and a green room for Mrs Mary Berry herself, and the crew even built a wooden bridge in the Hill’s garden. Alongside Bake Off, Harptree Court has also been used for a McFly music video and featured as the location for a house party in Skins. Despite its fame, the 18th century house has always been a family home and is now on the market for the first time in nearly 100 years.
But what does £5 million actually get you? Apart from the ability to boast that Paul Hollywood has been in your bedroom. The property is sat on a 51-acre garden complete with 2 lakes, a waterfall and even a romantic treehouse that sees around 18 proposals a year. As well as a two-acre kitchen garden, the house also features a huge games room which was once used to store a fully inflated bouncy castle.
The same price is going to get you a three-bedroom apartment next to Tate Modern on the Thames. Great views of St Pauls, but definitely no 51-acre garden, treehouse or Bake-Off legacy. Harptree Court seems like the perfect place to work on your hot baps, so get saving.
