In March we celebrated the BAFTA Film awards{ =nofollow}, but in the last year it's TV that's really earned the plaudits. So we can't wait for the Virgin Media British Academy Television Awards 2022, which will celebrate most of the TV shows that have kept us going through 2021 and 2022. Here's everything you need to know about this Sunday's awards...

When are the BAFTA TV Awards?

While winners of the BAFTA TV craft awards were announced on 24 April, the main event will take place on Sunday 8 May 2022 at London's Royal Festival Hall.

Who's hosting the BAFTA TV Awards?

Comedian and actor Richard Ayoade returns for the third consecutive year as host, while presenters Vick Hope and Zeze Millz will host the red-carpet show.

Who's presenting at the BAFTA TV Awards?

Presenters that have been confirmed so far include: Aimee Lou Wood, Call My Agent's Camille Cottin, Eleanor Tomlinson, Nicola Coughlan, Olivia Colman, Rochelle Humes, Suranne Jones, Tom Daley, Susanna Reid, Katie Piper, Ross Kemp, Munya Chawawa, Nicole Lecky and Michelle Keegan.

Who's nominated for a TV BAFTA?

With an amazing 11 nods, Russel T Davies' It's a Sin dominates the nominations, compromising of five in the craft categories and six in the television awards categories. The nods including recognition for stars Olly Alexander and Lydia West. The Channel 4 drama portrays how AIDS devastated the lives of gay men in 1980s London. The hit show also sees nominations for best mini series and best supporting actor for three of it's stars - Callum Scott Howells, David Carlyle and Omari Douglas.

Landscapers – starring Olivia Colman – follows closely behind with seven nominations across a range of categories including Leading Actor for David Thewlis’ performance. Inspired by real events, the series starred Olivia - who is not nominated - and David as a mild-mannered married couple whose lives are upturned after dead bodies are discovered in the back garden of a house in Nottingham.

Netflix's Sex Educationhas also done very well earning five nominations for Moordale High including a second nomination for BAFTA winner Amy Lou Woodfor Female Performance in a Comedy Programme. A Very British Scandal, starring Claire Foy and Paul Bettany as the Duke and Duchess of Argyll in the drama series about the couple's high-profile split in the 1960s, has four nominations in the craft categories.

The Virgin Media Must-See Moment, voted for by the public includes stand out TV moments such as ITV's An Audience With Adele when Adele was surprised by the teacher, Strictly Come Dancing's Rose and Giovanni’s silent dance to ‘Symphony,' Bimini's verse in Drag Race's 'UK Hun?', Ant and Dec calling out Boris Johnson for the Party Gate scandal on I'm A Celebrityand many more.

There are ongoing discussions online about the BATA's Line of Duty snub. Despite being one of the most talked about show with huge ratings, the show got no recognition from the Television Awards. The show did receive three nominations for the BAFTA craft awards - but fans were also hoping to see actors also get recognition.

The ceremony takes place on Sunday 8 May, and will be broadcast on BBC One and BBC One HD from 6pm, and you can catch up on iPlayer afterwards.
