Long-haul flights can be boring and soul-sucking and even though it’s a privilege to be able to get on a plane, be propelled through the air to a location then plopped down again, the people you have to share the experience with can be awful. That’s why, when we heard that Azealia Banks had a scuffle with some passengers on her flight from New York to LAX because they were in her way, getting their overhead luggage out and all she wanted to do was get off the plane, we sort of felt for her.
But then, we heard how she allegedly dealt with the situation, and had a peek at TMZ’s video of her calling a flight attendant a ‘faggot’.
According to TMZ, Azealia had been sitting in 6A and, once the flight landed, tried to get to the front of the plane to leave. But passengers ahead of her were faffing around with their overhead luggage.
When she asked them to move, she says the man slapped her, while eyewitnesses says he simply (albeit rudely), put his hand up to her face. She then started shouting at the man and the flight attendants who tried to calm the situation. It’s then that she called him a ‘faggot’.
She went on Twitter to explain: ‘Ok so I get hit in the face by a man and no one cares. The [sic] only hear what I called the man who was blocking my exit,’
‘I don’t care. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it [faggot] again. I don’t tolerate bitchassness and I don’t tolerate men putting their hands on me.’
Banks has previously defended her use of the word ‘faggot’ because she’s identified as bisexual, and, after all, she’s got loads of gay friends.
Delta have told TMZ they are investigating the incident.
