Paper Magazine is renowned for its covers and #BreakTheInternet is pretty much down to the clever people over there. Kim Kardashian cemented her place in digital history back in 2014 Nicki Minaj catapulted the hashtag back into the cultural periphery with her self-styled Minaj A Trois cover last month and next to have a go at causing commotion on the interweb is Asahd Khaled, AKA the world’s most famous one year old.
It’s a head scratcher for sure. Not because DJ Khaled’s beautiful baby boy hasn’t earned a spot on the cover of PAPER. He has the credentials that many of us could only dream of achieving in thirty years, let alone one. 1.7 million Instagram followers, a wardrobe that’s I like to assume to be the envy of kindergarten kids across the land and a credit as executive producer on his dad’s certified platinum album Grateful.
It’s muddling because what was once the coveted achievement of models (and only more recently) musicians and film stars, has transcended the invisible boundaries that I'm sure I'm not the only one to have understood to exist. Asahad, as adorable and yet to be able to speak for himself as he is, is the latest to reenforce a movement that's been rumbling on for a little while now. If you’re big enough on social media (and super smart and successful father to help you on the way to music moguldom), you’re big enough for a high profile hashtag worthy photoshoot

Impressive stuff for someone who probably can’t say ‘internet’ yet. But the question is, having now been crowned the Fresh Prince Of Hip-Hop, where does the prodigal son of music go next? Because, I don't know about the other musical talent of the world out there grinding for coverage, but chubby cheeks and a couple million loyal Instagram followers will get you really far these days. Maybe the internet has been broken.
