Sarah Levy from Portland, Oregon had to wait for the appropriate moment to create a series of portraits of Donald Trump, and the result –painted in her own period blood and titled Whatever – is pretty striking.
The paintings both stem from the time when Trump made two absolute howlers: the first when he called Mexicans ‘rapists’ and ‘drug dealers’ upon announcing his presidency, and the second when he implied Megyn Kelly, the Fox News host, was being hard on him because she was on her period.
So it’s fitting that Levy, a journalist and activist, should use her own period to create his face. Not sure exactly why, but it just feels appropriate considering the circumstances.

She said of the pictures: ‘That he thinks he can bring up the healthy functioning of women’s reproductive systems to insult women’s intelligence is a big problem that I think needs to be called out.’
Her aim is to put all the money raised by the artwork towards an immigrants’ rights organisation. We’re eagerly awaiting a response from Trump’s team.
