Ariana Grande has just won over a whole bunch of our respect after repeatedly calling out the radio interviewers who kept making little sexist remarks. Because, just like clogged pores or dust in the corner of a bedroom, these things build up and they’re annoying.
First off, she was asked to pick between make-up and her phone, to which she scolded: ‘Is this what you think girls have trouble choosing between? Is this men assuming that that’s what girls would have to choose between?’
She sort of answered the question, but gave it about the same attention and sincerity as it deserved. Conversation then turned to emoji, and the Los Angeles Power 106 presenters suggested that the unicorn emoji was only ‘for girls’.
Ariana replied: ‘Many boys use the unicorn, you need a little brushing up on equality... who says the unicorn emoji isn’t for men?’

At the end, when asked what she wanted to change in the world, she said she wanted to get rid of ‘double standards, misogyny, racism, sexism. We have work to do and we’ll start with you.’
At that point, she gestured over to the bloke who’d thought unicorn emojis weren’t for men. It may be low-level sexism, but it’s still sexism, and it’s still crap that Ariana has to deal with that.
